Afternoon tea at Sketch in London had always been on my bucket list and I was so excited to finally check it off! In this guide, I’ll share everything that you need to know before you have the iconic Sketch high tea.
I’m sure you’ve seen zillions of photos all over social media in a cute pink tea room in London. Well, that is Sketch – a funky, pink, 18th-century townhouse tea room. Certainly a hot spot in London for afternoon tea.
But… is it worth the hype? I’m going to share my experience having afternoon tea at Sketch and give you some tips if you are planning a visit.

This post is all about my full review after having afternoon tea at Sketch.
Where is Sketch London?
Sketch is located in Soho at 9 Conduit St, Mayfair, London W1S 2XG, United Kingdom. Oxford Circus is the nearest tube station. It was a bit challenging to locate, and slightly blended in with the street surroundings. There is a lot of greenery around the entrance so keep that in mind.
Arriving for Afternoon Tea at Sketch
Once you arrive, you’ll be taken to the Gallery, the infamous pink tea room at Sketch. There are a few different rooms at Sketch depending on what meal you are having. Afternoon tea will always be in the Gallery.
The Gallery is pink. Everything from the walls to the pink velvet seating and fun art pieces throughout the room. It’s such a unique space and adds to the entire experience.
So, What’s the Hype Around Afternoon Tea at Sketch?
Alright, Sketch is expensive. More expensive than lots of other afternoon teas in London, so, why should you go?
Yes, it’s cute and pink, but you’re not only paying for the atmosphere you’re paying for the entire experience. Sketch is truly a one-of-a-kind afternoon tea experience in London.
You won’t find anything like it! Sketch stands out from the rest because of the high-class service, insanely “instagrammable” room, and the quality of the food. Oh, and the tea of course! If you enjoy unique experiences when you travel, afternoon tea at Sketch is for you.
Sketch Gallery Afternoon Tea – First Impressions
Walking into Sketch is like walking into a dream. You are greeted formally by their professional staff that will run down the entire Sketch high tea experience.
The environment in the Gallery is luxurious and classy. There are multiple rooms depending on your dining experience which include the Parlour, the Lecture Room & Library, the Glade, and the Gallery. The Gallery, which is the pink room, is for afternoon tea and dinner.
Anyway, I love interior design so admiring the all-pink room was like walking through an art gallery. The pink velvet chairs, vibrant walls, and eclectic artwork were perfection.

Sketch Afternoon Tea Hours
Sketch high tea hours are Monday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
What Does Afternoon Tea at Sketch Include?
Once you are seated you will be given a menu that includes two main options. Afternoon tea or afternoon tea with bubbles. The basic Afternoon tea is 75 pounds per person and includes your choice of tea, assorted finger sandwiches, sultana or plain scone, and small sweet treats.
The tea with bubbles is the same, however, will also include your choice of champagne or an alcohol-free bubbly. The price including champagne is about 89 pounds per person. Yes, it’s pricy, but when in London am I right? The stiff price tag also includes the immaculate service and even caviar with a quail egg brought to you by the “caviar man.”
Note: When I visited we paid 49 pounds per person without the bubbly. This post is updated for 2024 and the last I checked the prices had risen to 75 per person.
Sketch Afternoon Tea Menu
- Tea (Of course!)
- Assorted finger sandwiches
- Sultana scones with jam
- Mini pastries
- Cavier from the “caviar man”

Is Afternoon Tea at Sketch Worth it?
Is Afternoon Tea at Sketch Worth it?
I have only visited Sketch London for afternoon tea so I can’t speak on behalf of their other meals/rooms, but I’ll tell you the afternoon tea at Sketch was well worth it.
The staff was incredible, they made us feel welcome. The food was excellent and it was fun to try new things. It was an experience I had never done before, so I loved every minute of it. I highly recommend trying afternoon tea here if you are visiting London!

Sketch Afternoon Tea Review – The Cons
The only downside, in my opinion, was the price. If you’re on a budget, this will take up a good amount of it. However, you get what you pay for when attending one of the best afternoon tea spots in London.
Additionally, if you aren’t one to dress up, this might not be the place for you. Although there is no official dress code, you want to wear something nice. I loved the excuse to dress up.
Tips for Visiting Sketch High Tea
- Plan ahead of time: you can book your reservation here on their website
- Arrive early for your reservation.
- There is no official dress code, however, it’s recommended that you dress nice.
- Plan for two hours: set aside two hours so you can take your time and enjoy the entire experience at Sketch!
- Bring your camera: If you are into photography, don’t miss out on this Instagram opportunity.
- Don’t miss the iconic Sketch bathrooms! It’s certainly the most unique bathroom you will ever step into.
Sketch is by far one of the best afternoon tea spots in London. Let me tell you, this is a whole experience. The food, the tea, the service, and the entertainment – were all amazing. There was even a violin played!

This looks like so much fun! Can’t wait to go back to London, hopefully soon after COVID!
It was such a fun experience! I can’t wait to visit London again too!
Sketch is definitely an experience that’s out of my price range, haha! But I’m very happy to read it’s more than just a visual crowd pleaser like I assumed when it started gaining traction online.
Sketch looks ace, my friends always head here when working in London, I need to join them next time. Have you ventured north to have high tea anywhere or afternoon tea? There are so many amazing places to do this with amazing views in charming villages and towns.
I have not, I will have to do that next time I visit!:)
That would be a great special occasion outing and of course, I have to go for the with bubbles option!
I would love to go back for the afternoon tea with bubbles!
This looks like an awesome way to spend a couple of hours, but it would definitely have to be a special occasion for me to spend that much! I love the look of the bathrooms 🙂
I agree! and I know right, aren’t they so cool?!
What a gorgeous spot! I’ve done afternoon teas in Rye (2 hrs south of London where my family is) but in all my times to London I haven’t actually done tea there…definitely on my list for next time. This place looks so lush!
That sounds amazing!
As a tea lover who is always on the search for tea spots whereever I travel, I really enjoyed your honest review 🙂
Thank you so much!
