Where are the Noosa Fairy Pools?

Step 1 | Starting the Coastal Walk

To start the coastal walk you’ll want to walk to Noosa National Park. You can easily reach the National Park from the Main Beach and Hastings Street area.

If you are staying further away, drive to the parking lot at the entrance of Noosa National Park. Once you are inside Noosa National Park you’ll see a map highlighting all of the different trails. Follow the “Coastal Walk” trail.

Step 2 |  Follow the Boardwalk

Continue down the boardwalk and along the coastal trail and you’ll reach “Boiling Pot.” You can stop here to take in the stunning views from Noosa North Shore. Boiling Pot lookout is the first landmark along the Noosa National Park coastal walk. The waves crashing into the rock below make it look similar to a boiling pot of water!

Step 3 | Boiling Pot to Tea Tree Bay

Next, you’ll continue along to pass Tea Tree Bay. This is the first beach you’ll come across in Noosa National Park. The beach is surrounded by lush coastal rainforests, making it one of the most beautiful beaches in Noosa. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you pass by, you can spot koalas here if you’re lucky!

Step 4 | Tea Tree Bay to Dolphin Point

Dolphin Point is another picturesque lookout along the walk that’s a wonderful place to spot dolphins and turtles. The actual lookout is a bit off-track but it’s worth a stop. Once you’re back on the path, keep walking towards Granite Bay

Step 5 | Dolphin Point to Granite Bay

After passing Dolphin Point, you’ll continue along the trail towards Granite Bay. Go past all of the Granite Bay signs. This part of the trail is absolutely gorgeous. At the end of Granite Bay you’ll get close to where you need to turn off the tracks to find the fairy pools.

Step 6 | Find the Fairy Pools

After passing a “Picnic Cove” sign, look for a wooden bench. Just after the bench is where you need to leave the trail and walk down to the pools.

It’s a little bit of a hike down, nothing too challenging though. Just go slow and use your hands to get through the rocks. There are two fairy pools, so once you get down you can choose which you’d like to visit!

FAQs Noosa Fairy Pools

What are the Noosa Fairy Pools?

The Noosa Fairy Pools are two natural tidal rock pools located in Noosa National Park. They are situated within a secluded cove along the coastline and are created by the waves sculpting the rocks over time.

The pools have become a hot spot thanks to Instagram but they can be quite difficult to find. The Noosa pools have quickly become one of the best things to see in Noosa and although Noosa has some amazing beaches, I think the Noosa Fairy Pools are well worth a visit!

You’ll find two pools here, one higher up in the rocks and pretty deep and the other closer to the water level that’s much more shallow. They are stunning, especially on a nice sunny day.

Can you Swim in Noosa Fairy Pools?

Yes! Just be aware of the tides. It’s best not to swim in the pools at high tide. The waves are strong and very large. Summertime is ideal for swimming in the pools but if you don’t mind chilly water, they are great to swim in year-round!

How long is the walk to the Fairy Pools Noosa?

The distance to the Noosa Fairy Pools from the entrance of Noosa National Park is 2.4 kilometers and will take you around 40 minutes each way. There are plenty of beautiful lookouts along the way so I’d account for longer.

Are the Fairy Pools worth it?

In my opinion, yes! I loved visiting the Noosa Fairy Pools. Whether you swim in them or not I think it’s well worth a visit. The coastal walk along the trail is a nice scenic path too. The views along the way are amazing.

Noosa Heads Walk Tips

  • Make sure you have water and snacks for the walk, it will take at least 45 minutes each way.
  • Go early to beat the heat and the crowds. If you are visiting the Noosa pools on a weekend they can get quite crowded. I love my Owala water bottle!
  • The sun is hot. Wear sunscreen and bring some along. A hat is also great to have.
  • Wear good walking shoes, it’s a long walk. Sandals are fine, but good sneakers will be more comfy on the unpaved parts of the path.
  • Bring sunglasses!
  • Avoid swimming in the pools at peak high tide. The smaller pool will be covered and the waves can be large and strong.
